“We promote the pursuit of knowledge. It is the key to a fuller, richer life. We gain it through education, the harmonious development of the powers of the individual.”
Scholarship is the first priority of any Phi Gam; it is what we attend University for – an education. While we strive for excellence in all areas, without a doubt scholarship is where the majority of our efforts are placed. The Undergraduate academic experience is where we seek to create a solid foundation on which to build a successful lifetime endeavor. At the most basic level, adequate scholarship is essential to excellence. It is our commitment to academic success which sets our fraternity apart.
Since 1982 more than 60% of our graduating seniors have entered post graduate education in Law, Medicine, or Business. This year over 80% of our membership attained a GPA of 2.75 or higher. We require our pledges to attend 12 hours of mandatory study hall, and we stress and encourage further study outside of what is required. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required for initiation. Awards for pledges and brothers who find success in the classroom are made available by our International Fraternity, as well as by our Graduate Brothers.
“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genus will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘Press On’ has solved, and always will solve the problems of the human race.”

Phi Gamma Delta will continue to stress scholastic excellence. Scholarship is our first priority.
